Tuesday of the Ninth Week of Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

“Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.”

This sentence is very hard to follow in real life. We give what belongs to the world what it needs, but we give God what belongs to Him, which is our whole self. This is a true struggle of our human nature. We want very badly to be noticed in the world for our own accomplishments and success, which is not always a bad thing. But sometimes our own pride can get in the way, and what belongs to God starts to belong to the world. This is very dangerous because we forget about others, even ourselves, and begin focusing more about the noise of the world. We prioritize constantly checking our phones, especially nowadays with COVID-19. We become so wrapped up and worried what will happen next, and we lose sight of God.

We should always remember that we belong to God. We owe him our entire self. As St. Bernadette Soubirous said, “Jesus gives all to those who surrender all.” I challenge you today to surrender everything to Jesus, and he will take care of the rest for you. Why? Because he loves you.
